Mosquito Division 2011 Welcome to Mosquito Baseball! Our players consist of boys and girls who will be 10 or 11 years old in 2011 (Birth years 2000 & 2001). For those of you who are new to the Mosquito Division it will be full of challenges for players of all skill levels. Our main objectives are FUN, sportsmanship, participation and skill development. Our season will run from early April until the end of June. It will start with a skills camp and follow with a regular season schedule with 1 weekday and 1 weekend game. We are excited to announce that our association will be hosting a Mosquito “House League” Tournament May long Weekend. (May 21-23rd) The tournament will include our local Mosquito house teams as well as opportunities to play house teams from other communities. It is sure to be a great atmosphere and a fun experience for all. June will bring a final round robin playoff and conclude with a league championship game . All these opportunities will help develop skills for our kids and we hope help build their enthusiasm towards the great game of baseball. July will bring the rep (all-star) season… tryouts are open to all our house players – we will forward more info on this during the season. Our league is dependent on each of us sharing some key responsibilities and volunteering in whatever way we can. Responsibilities we share as parents, coaches and players include: -Active Participation – (coaching, scorekeeping, field setup prior to games & cleanup afterwards, volunteer time in our concession.) Coaches will be forwarding sign up forms to their parents looking for help with these duties - everyone’s participation is greatly appreciated!!! -Good Sportsmanship -Respectful Communication If you are interested in being a coach or assist in coaching, please mark the registration form appropriately. A coaches meeting will be organized where we can discuss what we would like to have happen during our season and discuss and ideas or concerns early on. In order to have well balanced teams within the division, coaches will be “drafting” players to teams. Because of this, please do not request to have your child paired up with a friend. Only under extenuating circumstances will this be considered. In our experiences we have seen lots of new friendships formed through meeting new team-mates. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Thanks everyone – look forward to seeing you at the ball park! Dave Roemer – Mosquito Division Manager 250 286 6368
